Our Values
At Solidarity Therapy we draw from our values of anti-oppression & intersectionality to understand your identity & experience.
We are dedicated to anti-oppressive work, & we believe that individual healing lends to collective healing. We are committed to our own ongoing learning to understand how our own oppressions & privileges impact our views. We work with you to unpack the parts of your identity which are challenging, & the parts of your identity which are empowering to navigate.
We understand that systemic oppression continues to impact BIPOC & 2SLGBTQIA+ folks. We work in solidarity with you to help deconstruct systems of power for our collective's healing & empowerment.
Intersectionality is a sociopolitical theory coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989. Many Black women actively voiced that the first & second waves of feminism did not include their experiences.
Intersectionality factors in overlapping social identities that may be both empowering & oppressing. We look at social factors such as gender, caste, sex, race, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, class, religion, disability, & physical appearance to understand your experience.
